2019 MLB Draft: First Look at the Draft Prospects

It has been a while! I have been hit hard by plenty of important events like my licensure examination for chemical engineers here and thank God that I passed! While I am currently taking some time off (and I have been taking some time off) before I look for a job, I will pump out as much content as I can. First thing on the menu is my annual first look on the draft prospects.

The 2019 rule 4 draft is an interesting one because the class is so wide open with a lot of different iterations of draft prospects in terms of prospect grades, not just pure rankings (if you really base the whole draft solely on rankings like #1-10, you are probably doing it wrong). Since the Giants are picking 10th in next year's draft, it would be fair to do a pretty wide casting of prospects since for sure every single MLB team is not even putting any emphasis on an event that's 7 months from now.

Top 30 Pre-All Star Break Update

Hello folks! This will be the update of my top 30 prospect list that I conjured in my mid-season special. There have been quite a movement in quite a short time where re-evaluations now that the initial returns in the Arizona League have arrived and that the international amateur free agents have now signed. There are also teeny weeny blurbs that I want to say on every prospect.

I do not know where to rank Dereck Rodriguez now that he is holding his own in the Giants rotation. I have considered ranking him in the mid-season special but I do not know where to put him because his age is not really his friend relative to MLB and his stuff doesn't really wow you individually but he got some kind of moxie and good feel for his craft that he could stay in the big league rotation for the rest of the season and possibly hold down a rotation spot next year. Really tricky situation for Pudge's son. I know I should have listed him but I do not know if it is too late for that.

2018 Mid-season Special

Well yes, it is that time of the year again. The mid-season special. This year, the season actually went by pretty silently, as the hype of the draft kind of silenced the minor league season where we actually see the Giants organization having a competitive season all across the board. So for this mid-season special, I made sure to review all of the info available meticulously so that my thoughts will not be half-baked. Without further ado, enjoy!

TL,DR: A lot of prospect reports that you will miss out so read it all!

2018 MLB Draft: Review on Day 1 and Day 2 Selections

The first two days of the MLB Draft has officially come to an end and after the top 5 to 7 picks have been selected, mocks really started to blow up as guys like Kyler Murray, Grayson Rodriguez, and Jordan Groshans became surprise selections and the fall of Matthew Liberatore, Nolan Gorman, and Brady Singer are also part of the shockers. We saw two Florida teammates pitching for the same team in Singer and Kowar to the Royals, Alec Bohm seemingly getting heckled by the female interviewer, Rays making great selections, and more. For the Giants, given all of the whack of the first day of the draft and all the wrenches that were thrown, things went well for them, to possibly a boring one as the names that were tagged on them all along on tons of mock drafts for a couple of months now went to their lap with the selections of Joey Bart and Sean Hjelle (pronounced Jelly). In this post, I will give you my in-depth reports of Bart and Hjelle and my reactions on each pick. Also included is the quick hitters on Day 2 draftees.

2018 MLB Draft: My Draft Big Board

It has been a while since I posted content here! I have been dialed in my studies and at last, the finals are finally over. Let's see if everything's all cleared so that I will graduate this June!

It is going to be a little more than 2 weeks of waiting and the 2018 MLB Draft will be underway. There are several industry sources who are providing valuable information with regards to the draft (some are free, some are paid and I am definitely not one of those industry sources) and with regards to the Giants, the media seems to be sure that the Giants are casting a wide net in this year's draft with their number 2 overall pick. In this edition, I'm going to try to sift through all of this chatter and show you my draft board for this year.

2018 MLB Draft: Profiling Matthew Liberatore and Alec Bohm

It's going to be a few hours until the Minor Leagues will have their Opening Day, a week after their parent clubs held their own and I'm just as excited with the prospects in the Giants organization that either will be having their debuts in their new clubs or having their second season or more with the team. On the draft side, the top of the class is now pretty much determined and the intel from the teams are now starting to surface up. The Giants now as a nice pool of prospects to choose from with the number 2 pick with this year's draft. What is not clear however is the talent pool for the succeeding picks and I'll probably going to have more info on them as I continue to digest information.

2018 Top Prospects Primer

It's been a long while since I posted something in my blog mainly because of the academic stuff that I have been doing for the whole semester and hopefully to graduate in college this year so I hope you all wish me good luck on it. Also part of it is my fascination towards football and I am rooting for the Saints to win it all this season although I am personally a Packer fan. I will probably not going to do further scouting reports for the Giants prospects as plenty can still be applied to the same prospects from the previous years and I'll add on my own scouting report while discussing prospects. Without further ado, here's the prospect primer for 2018.
